Welcome

Welcome to the Devonport Field Gun Association website. The site is designed to provide a focal point for members of the association. The latest association news and events are posted here. New members are always welcome to join the association. Existing Association Members can also access the members forum of the website here.

The Devonport Field Gun Crew can trace it’s history back to the first inter command field gun competition at the Royal Naval & Military Tournament staged at Olympia in May 1907. Crews from the Devonport Command competed in the annual competition at the Royal Tournament until the ‘Last Run’ in 1999.

The Devonport Field Gun Association has long been established as a means of keeping ex-field gunners in contact with each other and this role has become increasingly important since the last Devonport Field Gun Crew disbanded after the 1999 Royal Tournament.

Reunion Dinner 3rd July 2010

The New Continental Hotel has been booked! The price of the dinner is £24. Unfortunately, the rooms are quite expensive! They only have 15 rooms available for the 2nd and 3rd July! They are normally £120.

They are giving our Association a concession rate so the twin bed/double rooms will be £88; single rooms £78 depending on availability. The price includes breakfast and VAT. It is advisable if you want to stay there to book immediately or there might not be any rooms left.

Contact details are by e-mail: reservations@newcontinental.co.uk or 'Phone: 01752 220782. Do not forget to state you are with the Devonport Field Gun Association or you may be charged the full rate.

Those of you having paid a deposit to the Royal Hotel must contact Simon who will then credit it back to the card you have used.

Warmest regards.

Paula

Message from Fred Chase in France:

I’m looking for some help here guys. I’m an ex-Field Gunner, I ran for the Oggies in 1971 and I now live in South-West France. Are there any other ex-Field Gunners who currently live in France or Northern Spain? It is not always easy to get back for reunions etc from this part of France, although I did make the Army v Navy this year. It would be good to try and organise some sort of mini-reunion plus a bit of swinging the lamp.   If anyone is interested in contacting Fred, please e-mail Paula.
